A MAJOR search is underway for a Poole woman who went missing in the early hours of this morning.

Sabrina Boulenouar, 33, was last seen at home in Poole Road, Upton, a Dorset Police spokesman said.

She is described as white, 5ft 6ins tall and has a shaven head.

When she went missing, Sabrina was wearing a grey jumper, black leggings and black-rimmed glasses.

Police, Coastguard and Dorset Search and Rescue (DORSAR) teams have been seen at Upton Country Park this afternoon.

A police spokesman said that the scale of the search was due to the weather and the risk of self-harm by the woman.

Speaking to the Daily Echo at the scene, Inspector Kevin Lansdale, of Dorset Police, said: "Dorset Police have been conducting searches in connection with the missing person.

"We have called in expert assistance for the search. At the moment we're concentrating our efforts around Upton Country Park and we have assistance from DORSAR and Coastguard teams.

"Because the country park covers such a wide area, Coastguards are searching along the shoreline and the water itself.

"These are not the only enquiries that we're carrying out in connection with the missing person."

He said that searches began at the park at around midday.

At around the same time, Poole lifeboat was launched to search the Holes Bay area.

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident 325 of January 1.

Coastguards stood down from the search at 5.30pm.
