Bournemouth Echo: Firefighters called to chimney fire Firefighters called to chimney fire

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a home in High Street, Lytchett Matravers, this morning.

A crew from Poole was sent to the unoccupied property after a call from a neighbour at 10.39am.

They found a fire burning in a hearth and a spokesman said that it had split over, leaving a small amount of fire damage to a rug and some smoke damage to the ceiling.

The home’s owner returned while firefighters were still on the scene.

That's just it, they aren't doing anything more important otherwise it would most definitely be reported! The Echo only report what DFRS tell them in their regular press releases. Believe me, if there was something interesting or spectacular to report, it will be published by the Echo once DFRS tell them.

Incidentally, it doesn't sound much like a "chimney fire" from the description above. A "fire burning in a hearth" is not a chimney fire, even of it does "spill over" and damages a carpet.
