The thrills and spills of the annual Bath Tub Race takes place in the chilly waters of Poole Quay on New Years Day, where intrepid mariners will be paddling their home-made craft from the Custom House steps to the steps near the Lord Nelson.

The variety of floating craft will enter the water at 11.15am with the race due to start at 11.30am.

The event will raise funds for the RNLI and other charities and festivities continue at the Blue Boar in Market Street.

Thousands of spectators turned out at last year's event to cheer the teams on as they battled for first place.

Around 45 tubs took to the sea for the race, which has been going for around 30 years.
