Bournemouth residents: is your collection on a Wednesday? put your bin out on New Year's Day

Bournemouth Echo: Bournemouth residents: is your collection on a Wednesday? put your bin out on New Year's Day Bournemouth residents: is your collection on a Wednesday? put your bin out on New Year's Day

Bournemouth Council will be running a reduced collection service on New Year’s Day.

Anyone missed due to a reduced service is asked to leave their bin out as the council will complete catch up collections in the week.

The majority will be collected but if a bin is missed catch up collections will be running over the next few days to try and clear any back log.

Residents whose bins are missed are being asked to leave their bins out or in a clearly visible place, taking into consideration the current weather conditions and obstruction of footpaths.

I thought it was an offence to leave your bin out not on your collection day. The council keep banging on about people who leave bins out for days after the collection but it's ok if they say so. One rule for us and one for them.

i have had to take rubbish to the tip, still have a full bin and a couple of extra bags, so do i just leave them out on the road? They said the same last year and we finally had our bin collected the following Wednesday so no catch up at all!! Surely it defeats the object of recycling if we then ask thousands of residents to get in their cars and take it to the tip ensuring lots of Petrol is used! How is it possible to do catch up over the coming days, but that could not be done after Xmas day?!

No ! because mine should be emptied on Tuesday got it,

It takes a post like mine to make the headline amendment more pacific than the original.

I was under impression the council were trying starting a new tradition as it did not specify if your collection day was Wednesday.

Some folk open their doors at midnight to let the old year out and the new one in. Also don't do any washing New Years Day as it will wash a life out of the family.

No...it says "is your collection on a Wednesday?". In your case, no, so shh.

Oh and does that also apply to the idiots who like to go round and kick over bins or bin bags? That's what usually happens if we leave the bins out.

I have to say the bin men (or should we say bin persons?) in Muscliff did a first class job last week. Several people locally were evidently not expecting them and had not put their bins out by the roadside, but in the old tradition of such collections they were picked up from inside people's drives and still emptied.

Fabulous service, thanks to all concerned.

There is a wonderful thing called the internet, perhaps you may have heard about a thing called Google as well. In Google you can type questions in and website links will appear.

If you type your question in Google, for example ‘Poole Council Xmas dustbin collections’ and hit the return key, hey presto, you will most likely see a link to the Council website telling you about dustbin collections over Xmas.

Well the letter the council sent out said recycling as going to be collected 8th January so we didn't put ours out. So of course, they came today. So when is the next recycle one? Another two weeks I suppose. I'm so frustrated! Council say one thing then do another, why am I so surprised?

Except no one told us and now we have two overflowing bins with nowhere to put rubbish. On the plus side they are so heavy now they didn't blow over last night unlike the other ressidents of the Muscliff close I live in whose bins and rubbish is all in a pile at the end of the close now
