MORE than 100 elderly people enjoyed a Christmas party thanks to the Mayor of Christchurch charity appeal.
Last year’s civic leader Peter Hall and his wife Sally donated money from their appeal to ensure Age Concern could hold the celebration at Cranleigh Community Church.
Lucky guests were transported to the venue by Christchurch Radio Cabs and enjoyed a full Christmas lunch prepared by volunteers at the Southbourne church.
They were then treated to musical entertainment and a visit from Father Christmas who gave each guest a present to take home.
The party was organised by Steve and Carol Stevens, who hope it will become an annual event.
“Everyone has been very generous in volunteering their time,” said Mr Stevens.
