LITTLE bundles of joy were brought into the world on Christmas Day giving 17 proud families the best festive present they could wish for – a healthy baby.

It was a Christmas and birthday gift all in one for a Bournemouth mum who gave birth to her first baby boy three weeks early at 7.37am at Poole Maternity Unit.

As a Christmas baby herself, mum Emma Coleman was also celebrating her 30th birthday with husband Paul and said they were still undecided on a name for their new 6lb 10oz arrival.

Emma said: “I think it is extra special because it’s also my 30th birthday. As a child growing up I know he will really love having a Christmas birthday.”

Little Ewan Jackson could be making history as the youngest ever Cherries supporter.

He was signed up for the Junior Cherries at the Boxing Day AFC Bournemouth match by proud father Nigel just hours after the birth.

Nigel said: “It’s the perfect opportunity because it’s a home game. I was filling out the registration form straight away.”

Mum Gemma described the birth of her first son as a “miracle” as the family had gone through IVF treatment before the successful birth at Poole Maternity Unit.

The White family welcomed a new addition at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital at 7:26am, son Alfie who weighed in at 7lb 10oz.

Mum Cassie said: “He’s lovely, the best present ever. I wasn’t due until December 29, so he came a few days early. His dad Brendon is absolutely over the moon and we are both exhausted.”

Massimo was described as the “best gift ever” by his mum Lucia Vieira-Melim who gave birth at 10am at Poole Maternity Unit.

Weighing in at 7lb 7oz, he will be joining his older sister and father Vieente to celebrate the rest of the Holidays.

She said: “I’m just so happy. It definitely makes it more special because he was born on Christmas Day.”

Proud parents Karen and Sean Haley were kept waiting for 10 days until their baby girl finally arrived at 11.47am on Christmas Day. They have not decided on a name yet for their new arrival, but she will be joining their first son Ryan.

Karen said: “We are overjoyed because we never thought she would be born on Christmas Day so it’s a lovely surprise. It’s the perfect Christmas present.”

First to arrive

First to arrive on the big day just one minute after midnight was Charly-Lou, who has now been taken into special care at Poole Hospital.

She is the third child for mum Claire Male, right, who said her new baby girl weighing in at 6lb 2oz would be given extra care at the maternity unit for a week.

Claire said: “It’s still early days, but she is feeding fine, so hopefully I will be able to take her home next week.”

Poole Maternity Unit welcomed 16 tiny bundles of joy on Christmas Day, which is slightly higher than average.
