A MAN was rescued after his boat capsized in Christchurch Harbour.
Phil Hudson and Dave Budd - members of the Christchurch Maritime Volunteer Service (MVS) - were carrying out routine maintenance when they heard shouts from the water on Sunday.
They launched their vessel and found a man clinging to the side of an upturned boat and dinghy after it had capsized due to the amount of water in the boat following recent downpours.
He was recovered from the water and despite being cold and wet, was in good spirits.
He did not need medical attention at the scene.
Members of the MVS warned people to always wear a lifejacket, even if it is a short paddle from shore.
They have also offered to help the rescued man right his vessel if he contacts the MVS.
