A HEARTLESS cat owner dumped two black moggies on an isolated track and left a note saying “Christmas is too expensive this year”.

Fortunately the male long-haired cats were discovered by a dog walker in Pamphill, Wimborne, on the evening of Sunday, December 15. The dog walker spotted a woman getting into a blue car and driving off before finding the cats in the same place at the edge of a copse along a track used by very few cars.

Both cats are now being cared for at the RSPCA Ashley Heath Animal Centre until new homes can be found, and the RSPCA are appealing for any information.

RSPCA inspector Graham Hammond said: “These cats were dumped in a place where they were lucky to have been found and we’re very grateful to the dog walkers who spotted them and took them home until we were able to collect them. “The weather wasn’t good on Sunday and the cats would have been in an awful state had they not been found.

“We do understand that people have problems with finances, but to dump your family pets because Christmas might be expensive doesn’t seem like the owner had the right priorities at all.”

The cats are described as friendly and healthy, although their fur was a little matted and one of them was wearing a red collar.

Abandoned in a grey carrier, the cats were left with a note which read: “Two cats in need of loving home due to no fault of their own. “But Christmas is too expensive this year.

“I am also moving next Sunday and can’t have animals.”
