THE manager of Poole’s shopping centre is reminding residents to think of their local retailers when shopping this Christmas.

John Grinnell who runs the Dolphin shopping centre, says that he is urging people to spare a thought for the high street shops and in particular, the independent shop owners, instead of heading straight to the internet.

In a further attempt to entice shoppers to Poole, many of the larger well known stores have introduced a click and collect service.

It not only allows people to have their item guaranteed in time for Christmas, rather than waiting for a delivery, but also helps high street brands fight back against the dominance of online retailers.

He said: “The internet retail revolution of click and collect has taken a surprising turn and is proving prosperous for the town centre.

He added: “This new service, along with the choice offered from smaller independent shops, and free car parking provides encouragement to entice people to visit Poole for their Christmas shopping this year.”

Some of the stores offering click and collect in Poole are: Marks & Spencer, BHS, New Look, Burton, Top Shop and Wilkinsons.
