A MAN was left bleeding from the head and neck after a suspected stabbing in Bournemouth in the early hours of this morning.

Police and ambulance were called just before 1am and discovered the 43-year-old victim at Frost Road council flats in West Howe.

He was taken by ambulance to Poole Hospital and one other person was arrested in relation to the incident.

Neighbours have said there is a problem with anti-social behaviour in the area and reacted with shock at seeing the whole area cordoned off and searched by police and forensic teams.

Detective Sergeant Richard Philp, of Bournemouth CID, said: “I believe the people involved in the incident are known to each other.

“I urge witnesses and anyone with information about the incident to contact Dorset Police urgently.”

South Western Ambulance service attended the incident at 12.56am and reported head and neck injuries.

A spokesperson said: “He was bleeding from the head and neck and was taken to Poole Hospital.”

Bournemouth council has sent round leaflets to all the residents in the Frost Road housing estate warning about anti-social behaviour in response to the incident.

One resident Becka Burden said: “I don’t feel safe in this area, it’s an absolute nightmare.

“Police have been here all night and they have been searching for something with torches. They told me they are looking for someone.”

Nick Slaughter: “We have had a lot of problems with anti-social behaviour in this area. The wing mirrors of all the cars in the street have been ripped off and my wife’s car has been smashed.”

Local resident Carol Masterman said: “The police cars woke me up early in the morning. We often hear shouting coming from the council estate. The whole area was cordoned off, it’s so sad to hear that someone was badly injured.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 18:08.

  • RESIDENTS have said vandalism, arson and aggressive anti-social behaviour is blighting the lives of families in West Howe.

After hearing reports of the suspected stabbing many neighbours have said they feel “unsafe” and remembered the incident in July last year when a man was stabbed to death in nearby Coleman Road.

Lenora Budgen said: “I do not feel safe living here and there is a lot of elderly people living round here.

“This assault is reminiscent of the murder last year where a man was stabbed in Coleman Road which is only a couple of roads away.

“My car has been smashed in and I’ve heard a big explosion where a group of youths set fire to the workman’s hut.”

Ward Councillor Ben Grower said: “We do occasionally get anti-social behaviour on and off, but that happens in any area with concentrated housing. I’m sure the police will deal with the incident adequately.”
