POLICE are investigating a robbery on a Poole retail park.

Officers cordoned off the Cash for Clothes clothing recycling centre, at the Redlands Retail Park in Branksome, after the alarm was raised at 3.10pm.

They said the robber was believed to have stolen cash and that the hunt for the offender was still going on.

His victim was left with facial injuries and was taken to Poole hospital.

Witness Jennifer Brown, of Christchurch, said: "I saw a man being helped into an ambulance."

Homebase store manager Kev Vince said: "We've recorded it as an incident, but we haven't had a visit from police.

"I wouldn't like to comment further than that."

Thom Jacobs, 28, from the New Forest, said: "I saw the police everywhere.

"I hope everyone is ok."

Other witnesses said the victim looked "shocked" and had to be helped into the ambulance.

One witness, who asked not to be named, said: "He was only a young man.

"He looked quite dazed. There were police everywhere and we've had no idea what's going on."

A South Western Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed they were called and took the injured man to Poole hospital.
