AN 87-year-old man died three weeks after suffering serious injuries in a collision with a lorry.

Alan Levene, of Charnwood Avenue, Bournemouth, received a injury to his legs in the incident involving a Co-op distribution vehicle on a garage forecourt in Winton.

However, during the opening of an inquest at the coroners’ court in Stafford Road this morning, district coroner Sheriff Payne heard that the cause of his death is as yet unascertained.

Mr Levene was taken to Poole General Hospital following the accident, which took place at the Total Garage in Castle Lane West at 4.20pm on Wednesday, November 6.

The forecourt was closed for several hours afterwards to allow police to carry out their inquiries.

His death was confirmed at the hospital at 6.30am on November 24.

An interim date for an inquest has been set for February 27 next year.
