TWO celebrities helped to raise £20,000 for charity at an annual dinner held in Poole.

Inspirational speaker Katie Piper and renowned British boxer Frank Bruno MBE attended the yearly event at the RNLI College, which was organised by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment South Coast Committee (CISI).

Former heavyweight boxing champion Mr Bruno, in an address, spoke about his life and career, and also donated a signed boxing glove which made £800 during the dinner’s prize draw.

All of the £20,872 raised from the event went to the Katie Piper Foundation, which supports those living with burns and scars.

Kevin Moore, CISI’s director of global business development, said: “The total amount of money collected is believed to be the largest amount ever raised at a CISI branch annual dinner.”

Katie Piper, who was among 150 guests, rebuilt her life following an attack in 2008, in which she had sulphuric acid thrown in her face.

Event sponsors included ETF Securities, Invesco Perpetual and J P Morgan Asset Management.
