PUBLIC consultation is underway over plans to move Malmesbury Park Post Office into a convenience store.

Members of the public are being asked to comment on the plans, which will see services move 40 metres down Holdenhurst Road into Springbourne Convenience Stores.

Opening hours for full post office services will be almost the same but selected products will be available during longer shop opening hours.

The shop is open from 7am until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays and until midnight on other days of the week.

“We understand how important having a post office is to residents in this area of Bournemouth and we are confident the new branch will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future” said regional network manager Will Russell.

“The modernisation is part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new-style branches.”

Mr Russell said the new post office will have three serving positions and will include car tax renewal for the first time.

The consultation will close on January 17 with the new office due to open in March.
