AS Christmas draws ever closer there are plenty of events taking place across Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset this weekend to get you into the festive spirit.

Whether its carols you’re after or a fun-filled Christmas parade, then check out our guide for what’s on over the weekend.

SATURDAY

On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a Christmas Farmyard petting zoo in Bournemouth Square and at Ringwood Waldorf School, a Christmas bazaar will be taking place on Saturday from 11am-4pm.

In Broadstone, the 44th Christmas parade will take place with 28 local community groups from 1.25pm.

It will start at Storey Lane and continue along the Broadway and Dunyeats Lane, ending at the Toast Rack, where there will be a Christmas Fair.

Santa’s grotto will be at Broadstone Methodist Church and the event will raise money for LEAF (Leukaemia Educating and Fundraising) and Broadstone Scout Group.

Also on Saturday, Swanage’s annual Christmas Fair will take place from 10am-4pm.

There will be carol singing in Station Road at midday and Santa will also be present.

In Wareham on Saturday, the annual ‘Pull a Pine for Christmas' event will be held at the RSPB Arne Reserve near Wareham from 10am-4pm.

Families are invited to help hand-pull thousands of small pine trees as part of regular conservation work. Those taking part can pick their own Christmas Tree. There will also be lots of other Christmas-related activities taking pace, including decoration making for kids.

 Sunday

Carols will take place at Burton village green, near Christchurch. The parish council’s annual event will see real donkeys join singers and the lights on the village tree turned on from 4pm.

Also on Sunday, a community event will take place at Turlin Moor Community Garden between 11am and 1pm.

The Mayor of Poole, Cllr Phil Eades, will join Santa, a chef cooking Christmas food, crafts and a bit of gardening.
