CHRISTCHURCH’S tourist information centre has been handed over to volunteers at the Regent Centre.

The council has officially transferred the management and day-to-day running of the information centre to the Regent Centre theatre and cinema, which is located just next door in the High Street.

The new arrangement follows months of partnership work between the council and the Regent Centre to ensure a smooth transition. The current information centre manager, Sara Stewart-Haddow, will be staying at the helm of the venture and has been training the volunteers.

The Christchurch Information Centre will be open from 9am – 4.30pm on Monday market day and then from 10am – 4.30pm from Tuesday – Saturday. The Regent Centre Box Office will also be operating from the Christchurch Information Centre during its opening hours.

The Regent Centre’s board of directors are also looking at removing part of the existing dividing wall to create a large, spacious entrance area to bring the two facilities together.

The existing roller shutter will be open to allow ease of access between the foyer and the information centre.

Sara Stewart-Haddow said: “I am convinced that we will be able to continue to offer a great service that will be appreciated by the residents of Christchurch and visitors to the town.”
