TANK enthusiasts now have the opportunity to bid for the ride of a lifetime on one of the most formidable weapons unleashed by the Nazis into the theatre of war.

Dorset’s Tank Museum is giving people the chance to bid for a seat in the World War Two Tiger 131 tank, which is thought to be the last in working order.

The special charity auction will be held on eBay until December 10 and the museum hopes the event will raise several thousand pounds for the Museum’s Endowment Fund.

Museum spokesman David Willey said: “The winning bidder will not only have the chance to be take part in our Premium Tiger Day experience, but will actually be able to ride in the Tiger 131 itself – the last running Tiger I in the world.

“Tiger 131 is our most famous exhibit.

“We are hoping that this auction and raffle will attract a good deal of attention from Tiger enthusiasts around the world, allowing us to raise much-needed funds to support the museum and ensure that the Tiger can be kept in working order for years.”

The lucky winner will take part in the premium Tiger Day experience on Saturday, April 5 at the Bovington museum.

With a formidable reputation as one of the most deadly weapons of the time, The Tiger 131 could destroy an enemy tank from more than two kilometres away.

This particular Tiger tank also played a starring role in Brad Pitt’s latest action film, Fury.

The Tank Museum’s Endow-ment Fund has been launched to secure its long term future.
