UPDATE: Two people injured after crash between car and bus in Bournemouth

Bournemouth Echo: One person injured after crash between car and bus in Bournemouth One person injured after crash between car and bus in Bournemouth

TWO women were injured in a crash between a bus and a car near Cemetery Junction today.

A dark blue Nissan Note heading along Wimborne Road towards the Talbot Road roundabout collided with a No.6 single-decker Yellow Bus travelling in the bus lane at around 2.55pm.

Both injured parties, the car driver and a passenger on the bus, were taken to hospital as a precaution with what were believed to be minor injuries, although the latter was strapped to a spinal board after complaining of neck pain.

PC Mark Palmer said: “We don't believe there were any serious injuries in this collision, in which for some unknown reason a vehicle collided with a bus travelling in the bus lane.

“The circumstances are under investigation at this time.”

With the crash and emergency operations confined to the bus lane there was little added congestion on nearby roads.

The choice of car is a hint to the age of the driver.

IF the driver of the car is found to have been driving in the bus lane on the wrong side of the road then they should be banned from driving ... for life! That is obviously not an accident - the road is clearly marked and there are almost three lanes on that stretch of the road with the bus lane. Hope all involved are okay.

So what did we learn the other day about the percentage of drivers who would fail the very basic eyesight test for driving?

Was this driver tested? If not, why not?

It doesn't say, does it, that they were going the wrong way but the pictures certainly look that way.
Either way, the car was in the wrong place. Strange...

On a slightly different subject, when are the police going to remove the blue bmw that they stopped in the bus stop to the left of the cemetery exit on Saturday which is causing buses to block the road when dropping off/ picking up passengers? The traffic on the inside lane has to swerve round them. Will they wait for a cyclist / m'cyclist or car accident or vandalism till they do it?

oh, like swerve into the long line of stationary cars to the right of him, causing a larger accident and more injuries? on a bus lane where to one side is a pavement covered in sign posts and pedestrians, and the other side is queues of cars waiting for lights to change where the hell do you propose he takes "avoiding" action to?

you're such a moron. i hope you don't ever drive.... ever.

Friday! it may be that they are leaving it hoping someone will come back for it? Possibly part of a more serious investigation? Just a thought.

Yeah because its usual to see some plank driving the wrong way up a bus lane! I should imagine that it had crossed the road at some point for the driver not to have seen it even though the traffic is generally heavy at that time of the day it may have just cleared through the lights. I'm not sure how you can blame the bus driver for someone elses actions and it clearly wouldn't have been his fault no matter what the circumstances.

Bus drivers are endowed with a special 6th sense that gives them the power to avoid hundreds of accidents a day caused by other road users poor driving standards.
If it weren't for this special power the Echo would be full of reports of accidents involving buses, none of which would be the bus drivers fault.

Of course Colin Fry does a bit of part-time bus driving that's who you are thinking of :)

Who said it has anything to do with eyesight. Someone would have to have 90% loss of vision not to see a damm great yellow bus.
