A YOUNG performer from Christchurch has starred in a music video – at just eight years old.

Finlay Wright-Stephens found himself as one of four children picked to play mini versions of pop group McFly in their latest video, for new single Love Is On The Radio.

Finlay, who is a member of Swish of the Curtain Theatre School, played a mini-me of band member Dougie Poynter alongside three other boys that took on the roles of band members Tom Fletcher, Harry Judd and Danny Jones.

Mum Susan said: “Finlay applied as there was an advert for McFly lookalikes.

“He’s been doing musical theatre since he was two years old. He’s a typical performer and he also does ballet.

“They went up to the set for the day in London and had the opportunity to stay on set while they filmed it all.

“They met all of the lads and they were lovely with them, they were really cool.

“All of his friends have seen the video at school.”

Finlay, who goes to The Priory Primary School, added: “I felt really happy and excited and couldn’t wait to go.

“It was amazing. It was really fun jumping around and spending the day with McFly. They were really cool and fun – they were playful. I’m a big fan of them.”

The video for the track, mooted as being a more mature new sound for the band, also features a Michael Jackson lookalike.

McFly have been together since 2003 and the new song is released next week, ahead of their sixth studio album.
