FOOTBALL legend Paul Gascoigne has become a regular at a Bournemouth tattooist where he has visited for five days on the trot.

Staff at Bournemouth Ink in Old Christchurch Road have told how the former England star has become a friend and spends time there getting new emblems done on his back and arms.

Jamie Austin, manager at the tattooists, said: “He’s been in for five days in a row and become a part of the Bournemouth Ink family.

“For me he’s now a personal friend and he often brings in presents and signed stuff.”

He said the recent tattoos have included a rose, Gazza’s ex-wife Sheryl’s name, a robin and a locket.

Gazza lives close to Boscombe seafront and recently appeared in a television documentary discussing his fight against alcoholism.

But Jamie said the former Newcastle, Tottenham, Lazio, Glasgow Rangers and Everton player has been healthy and happy of late.

Jamie said he has given him a signed picture of the free kick he scored against Arsenal at Wembley.

He said Gazza has also given him a poem, an England shirt from the 1990 World Cup and an Everton training top. He’s very happy at the moment,” Jamie added.

“He’s really enjoying himself.”

Other people have taken to Twitter to say how pleased they are at meeting the former footballer.

Amanda Ramage wrote that she loved meeting him. “What a legend, such a down to earth guy,” she added.

Gazza’s tattooist, named on Twitter as Robbie Bourn, wrote “top day, top man” after sharing a picture of him carrying out a tattoo while the Geordie played on his harmonica.
