Investigation goes on into murder of Ibrahim Yousef, despite death of suspect, police say
AN INVESTIGATION into the murder of a Boscombe businessman will continue as normal even though the suspect is dead, the detective leading the inquiry has said.
The body of Ibrahim Yousef, 42, was discovered at his home in Gloucester Road on Friday, October 11.
Hours before, the man believed to be responsible for the murder, Valerijs Grigorjevs of Heathcote Road, was killed in a car crash in Wiltshire.
However, despite the death of the 27-year-old, Detective Inspector Marcus Hester of Dorset Police said the inquiry would continue as usual.
“The investigation will continue as if the suspect in this case was still alive,” he said.
“We are asking for any employees of Mr Yousef, or any of his friends or neighbours, to come forward with information. We are trying to build a picture of both deceased men. We still need to gather and establish as much information as we ever would. Usually, we would gather evidence so that we could charge someone and take them to trial – in this case, it will be for the Crown Prosecution Service and the coroner.”
Currently, no one else is being sought in connection with Mr Yousef’s death, as forensic evidence links Mr Grigorjevs to the scene.
However, DI Hester added: “Although officers are not actively looking for anyone else, of course we need to be as sure as we possibly can be that this was an isolated attack involving just the two deceased men.”
Two knives, believed to be the murder weapons, were recovered from the house after Mr Yousef’s body was found.
The Iraq-born father-of-five, who ran the Five Star Car Wash in Boscombe, also suffered serious head trauma in the attack.
Police were asked to investigate the address after Mr Grigorjevs was involved in a collision with a lorry on the A350.
It is believed that the suspect stole Mr Yousef’s Toyota Yaris before deliberately crashing it.
