FITNESS instructor Jo Green and Kimberly Douglas will be among the thousands of runners who will be pounding the streets on Sunday in The Great South Run.

But these two girls are running for a cause close to their hearts. For the first time they ran the race together in 2010, Jo had just been diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer.

Jo who works at The West Hants Club in Bournemouth said: “Although I had been having health issues for many years, this was a complete shock but despite my symptoms, I was very fit and with my doctor’s permission, I still ran and raised over £1000 for Macmillan.”

Although Jo can’t be cured, her condition can be managed with support from PLANETS, a new charity dedicated to defeating Pancreas Liver And Neuroendocrine Tumours based at Southampton hospital.
