TWO men were injured after being attacked by a gang outside Sherborne Abbey.
Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses after the pair were assaulted around 1am on Sunday morning, with both victims being treated in hospital.
A group of five men attacked the victims after they had run across an area cordoned off for the filming of Far From the Madding Crowd.
The offenders knocked one man to the ground before running off in the direction of Sherborne Abbey.
A 59-year-old man from Devizes in Wiltshire sustained bruising and cuts to his face and body, while a 47-year-old man from Lewes in East Sussex received swelling to his face, hands and body.
They were treated at Yeovil District Hospital.
Detective Constable Gerald Marchant said: "This was an unprovoked attack that left both men requiring treatment at hospital.
"I would like to ask the public to cast their minds back to around 1am and to contact me urgently if they recall any suspicious activity in the Sherborne Abbey area.
"I'd like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident and in particular and witnesses that came to the aid of the victims."
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police on 101.
