A RITZ-style tea party was held to celebrate the end of an innovative project at Malmesbury Park Primary School.

The Who Do You Think You Are? initiative saw Year 6 pupils interview local dignitaries and business representatives from the town about their lives.

They then compiled books about each person and invited them to the tea party to present them.

Daily Echo editor Toby Granville was among the recipients, as was Bournemouth East MP Tobias Ellwood and Mayor Rod Cooper.

Year 6 leader Julia Kolbucaj said: “The tea party was the final outcome of the project, which has been going on for four weeks.

“The children made an effort to decorate the school and the choir was singing.”

She said the project was linked to the BBC programme Who Do You Think You Are?

Pupils visited the Daily Echo offices in Richmond Hill earlier in the project to interview Mr Granville.

There they asked him about his childhood, about his favourite school subjects and about his hobbies before compiling his This Is Your Life-style book.

After his grilling, Mr Granville said: “It’s a bit different to be on the receiving end of it for once but I did see some potential in some future journalists out there.”
