BOURNEMOUTH’S Bishop of Winchester Academy has announced the new head of sixth form in preparation for next year’s sixth form launch.

The academy’s principal Paul McKeown has promoted Caroline Kurtulan, who. since joining the team of 65 teaching staff in September 2012. has held the position of head of business and IT studies combined with enterprise and innovation.

Caroline played a similar role previously for more than 19 years at Wimborne’s Queen Elizabeth’s School.

“I’m delighted that Caroline has accepted the promotion to become the first head of sixth form at this exciting crossroad in the future of the academy,” said Mr McKeown. “We are very proud of the extensive pastoral support programme we offer all our students. I am confident that Caroline will continue this high level of support and guidance for our older students and those from other schools who will opt to continue their education with us.”

Caroline Kurtulan said that with the £14million construction of the new buildings nearing completion, she looked forward to playing a vital role in the launch of the first sixth form, following the academy’s very positive Ofsted report and record GCSE results.

The new sixth form open evening for parents and potential students is to be held on Thursday, November 21 from 6pm to 8pm.
