Petrol station cleared after man pours fuel on himself
THE emergency services were called to a Bournemouth town centre petrol station on Wednesday night after a man poured petrol on himself.
A police spokesman said that officers were called at 9.01pm to the Bath Road Esso service station after reports that the man had covered himself in fuel from a can.
Firefighters were put on standby close by but did not attend the scene itself.
The forecourt was cleared and staff evacuated before the man was sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
He was taken to St Ann’s Hospital in Poole at around 9.30pm.
