AN “INCIDENT” involving a Ryanair plane coming in to land at Bournemouth Airport was logged with the Irish Aviation Authority.

A passenger on the flight from Malta told how the pilot “suddenly” pulled up and did a go-around before successfully landing at the second attempt.

And it was confirmed the “incident” was logged with Irish Aviation Authority.

A passenger said the plane “suddenly veered up.

“We were all panicking,” he said.

“The pilot came on the PA and said he aborted the landing attempt because air traffic control advised him there was another plane on the runway.”

The man, who asked not to be named, said other passengers became ill.

“It was frightening,” he added.

The landing on October 10 was logged with the Irish Aviation Authority as that is the authority Ryanair reports to.

When contacted by the Daily Echo Ryanair stated the pilot did a go around at the request of air traffic control, but would not confirm why.

Bournemouth Airport also refused to confirm the reasons for the go around but said denied there was a plane was on the runway.

Ryanair’s Robin Kiely said: “Ryanair flight FR8742 from Malta to Bournemouth performed a go-around at the request of Bournemouth ATC, before landing normally 15 minutes later, at 09:30 am.”

The Bournemouth Airport spokesman said: “Following contact between ATC and the crew of this flight, the aircraft performed a normal go-around procedure.

“No other aircraft was involved.”
