New Forest care home faces possible closure
4:00pm Monday 14th October 2013 in News
A NEW Forest care home faces possible closure and redevelopment as an extra care housing scheme.
Cranleigh Paddock, a specialist dementia care home in Lyndhurst, is being considered for closure by Hampshire County Council, subject to public consultation.
The proposed extra care housing replacement is a system of sheltered accommodation with extra supervision of residents.
The plans are being challenged by New Forest district councillor Di Brooks who said: “We are not against extra care in itself. But we feel having specialist dementia care facilities in the New Forest is more of a priority.”
The consultation ends on October 18.
