Murder probe continues after man found dead in Gloucester Road, Boscombe
A COMMUNITY is reeling after the body of a man found in a local flat sparked a murder investigation.
Police were called to the property in Gloucester Road, Boscombe, at 12.34pm on Friday. They discovered a man’s body and determined foul play had been involved in his death.
The victim has still not been officially identified, or his next of kin informed about his death, but the 5 Star Car Wash nearby in Christchurch Road was also closed by police.
Elaine, who runs the Mysterious Tea Shop next door, said: “It is a real shock, and very sad for all of us, we look after each other along here.”
Karen Kia of Bourne & Co said: “It is a horrible thing to happen.”
Malcolm Haynes of Oscar’s Bazaar said: “It is a bit of a shock.”
Forensics officers were at the property, which is being guarded by private security guards rather than police officers as part of a Dorset Police trial, all through the weekend.
On Friday night, Dorset police issued a statement which said: “Dorset Police can now confirm a murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Gloucester Road in Bournemouth today, Friday, October 11.
“A cordon remains in place at this time and the coroner is aware. “Next of kin have yet to be informed.”
Police have urged witnesses or anyone with information about the man’s death to call them in confidence as soon as possible.
They should call 101 quoting incident number 11:46, or alternatively Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
