Men injured fighting on train following Bournemouth versus Millwall football match
3:11pm Friday 11th October 2013 in News
TRANSPORT police are investigating fighting on a train after the Bournemouth versus Millwall football match.
Investigators are keen to speak with anyone who was travelling on the 9.12pm Bournemouth to Waterloo service on Saturday, October 5 and who may have seen what happened before the train got to Brockenhurst.
Detective Constable Matt Bevan said: “Officers received a report from rail staff of a group of men fighting on the train as it was leaving Bournemouth.
“Police met the train at Brockenhurst and located two men with facial injuries, but no witnesses came forward, and no complaints were made to officers.”
Officers are now looking to speak to anyone who was travelling on the service to get a clearer picture of what took place.
DC Bevan continued: “At this stage, it remains unclear as to what exactly happened during the journey, or who was involved, so it is vital we hear from anyone who can help us with our enquiries.
“We believe that football fans were involved, and that the incident followed the Millwall vs Bournemouth match that took place earlier that day.
“If you saw anything on the train, or have any information that could help police, please contact us.”
