Nicky Hutt has directorship terminated after anti-Muslim comment
A COMPANY boss removed his wife from its list of directors in the wake of “racist” remarks she made on the internet.
Nicky Hutt had her directorship terminated at 4Com by her husband Daron Hutt after she posted a comment on Facebook stating that “hopefully” some of the immigrants who died in the Lampedusa boat disaster were Muslims.
Mrs Hutt’s apology has been rejected by Mrs Hutt’s Muslim hair stylist due to a text message she received from Mrs Hutt’s phone stating: “It’s called freedom of speech in my country ok....”
Mr Hutt, chairman at 4Com Plc, stated on Monday that his wife “is a former-non executive director” at the telecommunications company based near Bournemouth Airport.
Companies House records now show her appointment was terminated that same day. Yesterday, Mr Hutt said she no longer worked there and was “in the dog house” over the internet posting.
When asked about the text message, Mr Hutt said her private phone was hers to use as she wishes.
Mrs Hutt said on Monday that she “genuinely regretted the posting” on Facebook about the boat disaster in which at least 232 immigrants died near Italy.
But her hair stylist Esra Turay could not accept the apology due to the text massage she received on Sunday from Mrs Hutt’s phone after Mrs Turay reposted Mrs Hutt’s Facebook message.
The message stated: “I can post what I like” and “it’s called freedom of speech in my country ok”.
It went on: “And yes, my opinions are extreme. But that’s my decision.”
Mrs Turay said: “How can she say she’s sorry if she sent me that text?”
Dorset Police are investigating the Facebook posting.
Mrs Hutt did not return the Echo’s calls yesterday.
