Charity beer festival at Bransgore raises thousands for Rotary causes
BILLY the Squid, Exmoor Beast and Fanny's Bramble were among the delights sampled at the Bransgore Beer Festival this year.
A range of wonderfully named beers and ciders were available at the three-day event that finished on Sunday.
Bransgore & District Rotary Club members, who organised the festival, hope it will raise more than £10,000 for charities.
Around 2,500 people attended the event, which also boasted live music, Morris dancing, wine and chocolate tasting.
It took place at the Three Tuns Inn and in marquees erected in the pub's grounds.
Festival chairman Jeff Schofield said: “It has been brilliant, absolutely fantastic. I think we've been through 52 nine-gallon casks of beer and 19 different ciders.
“The first beer to sell out was called Funky Monkey, so I guess that won the popular vote.”
Meanwhile, the strongest beer available, called Thomas Sykes and weighing in at a leg-buckling 10 per cent Abv cent, did not sell out.
“I think it has been scaring people off,” joked Jeff. “We insisted on only selling that one only by the half.”
