Sorted Surf Festival gets underway in Boscombe
2:56pm Saturday 28th September 2013 in News
WATERSPORTS fans have been watching and taking part in a festival on Boscombe beach today.
The two-day Swell Watersports Festival, incorporating the Sorted Surf Festival, includes board, ski, kite surf, stand-up paddle board, ocean kayak races and a surfing competition.
Esther Pearson, chief executive of Surf Life Saving GB – which along with Sea Road’s Sorted Surf Shop is responsible for the event – told the Daily Echo things had been going “really well.”
She said: “We had a bit of a damp start but there’s been a really great turnout.
“On the back of the beach, on the walkway, there are a huge number of traders all giving lots of information, and there are lots of things to have a go at.”
Among today’s highlights is an ocean ski race, an outrigger kayak race and a surf competition.
On Sunday the event continues with a open water swimming race starting the day.
Anyone is welcome to pop along and there are lots of activities to try out.
Esther said: “It is all about promoting being in the water, using our natural environment – the blue gym – to be safe, to improve our skills and just have some fun.”
