Farmer Palmer co-owner to appear on Come Dine with Me
THE co-owner of Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park is hoping to wow his fellow hosts on the hit TV show Come Dine With Me.
Phillip Palmer is one of four amateur cooks attempting to pull off the perfect dinner party when the cult Channel 4 show airs in its teatime slot today.
He’s joined by Dorset decorator Gary Allen, Pauline Elliot and Natalie Lawrence, who battle it out for bragging rights and £1,000 prize money.
Phillip told the Daily Echo: “A customer put my name forward knowing that Come Dine With Me was filming in the area.
“They got in touch and I agreed to take part. I’ve always loved the programme, but I’m not a natural cook.”
He even joked that he thought about pulling a fast one and having his meringues and shortbread biscuits prepared professionally.
“But they said I had to make everything in front of them,” said Phillip. “Let’s just say, I learned how to make meringues and shortbread biscuits very quickly.”
Phillip served up sautéed garlic mushrooms on a toasted ciabatta bread, with poached egg and oven-baked parmesan crisp for starters.
His main was locally-sourced lamb baked in hay, with asparagus, honey-glazed carrots and mustard mash.
Dessert was potted lemon curd with homemade meringue, shortbread biscuits and raspberries.
Phillip said there was a very amusing reaction from a contestant when she realised his connection to the popular Purbeck farm park attraction.
“She said ‘oh my God, my mum loves you’, which was brilliant. I just hope that makes the final cut.
“I acted like the consummate gentleman all the way through, and they were a nice group of people.”
To find out how he does watch Channel 4 at 5pm today.
