AMI Walter and her work friends came up with an unusual challenge to raise funds for two worthwhile causes - a 13.5km three-legged walk.

The 31-year-old and Interserve Interiors colleagues Naomi Munnik, Louisa Cannings, Monica Payne, Louise Bennett, Andrea Robinson and Elaine Enticknap completed the course from Bistro on the Beach to Durley Chine and back in just over three and a half hours on Friday September 6.

Ami organised the event after taking on an accumulator fundraising challenge to turn £10 into £1,000 for the Mandie Burkmar Foundation.

The foundation was set up in memory of Mandie Burkmar who died from cancer in 2011 aged just 46. She left behind her husband Richard and sons Joe and Nick.

It raises funds for Forest Holme Hospice and Cancer Research UK.

Ami said: “So far we have raised £800 through the walk and other events at work. We will probably hold a cake sale to reach our target.

“I decided to support the Mandie Burkmar Foundation because I live in the same village as her son, who founded the charity.”
