UPDATED: Family of tragic young dad Daniel Robbie lay flowers at Upton Bypass
THE heartbroken family of tragic dad Bournemouth dad Daniel Robbie visited to the scene of his death today to lay flowers.
It came as an inquest into his death was opened and adjourned at the coroner’s court in Bournemouth.
Mr Robbie, 23, of Throop Close, was killed in an alleged hit-and-run incident while riding a silver children’s micro scooter on the Upton Bypass in the early hours of Saturday morning.
It is believed that he was trying to get home ahead of his five-month-old son’s heart operation.
Yesterday lunchtime, the eastbound lane of the bypass closed briefly to allow Mr Robbie’s grieving family to lay tributes at the scene.
Among the many flowers left at the scene were tribute messages from close family members.
One touching card appeared to be on behalf of Mr Robbie’s children.
It read: “To our Daddy, you meant everything to us and you will always live on for us.
“We will never forget you Daddy.”
It was signed “Lily, Daisy and your special boy Charlie”.
Another read: “Our darling nephew Daniel. Living our lives without you is the hardest thing of all. The family chain is broken and will never be the same. The link that is missing is the one that bears your name.
“Love you forever and always, Auntie Becky, Uncle Damian, Sophie, Louise and George.”
Dorset coroner Sheriff Payne yesterday heard that Mr Robbie’s body was identified by his mother, Julie Croucher.
The inquest heard he died of multiple injuries and that further examinations and tests are due to be carried out.
A provisional date for a full hearing was set for December 3.
He has since been released on bail until early November while enquiries continue.
Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to call 101.
