Have your say on improvement schemes for Poole Road
12:00pm Tuesday 17th September 2013 in News
A SERIES of improvements to busy Poole Road are to be consulted on following feedback from local residents.
Borough of Poole is inviting local people to give their views on the proposed improvement schemes by attending a public exhibition or giving their feedback online.
All of the improvement schemes have been drawn up following a recent engagement exercise with those who live and travel in the area.
This latest consultation of the Three Towns Travel projects is the next stage in deciding how £460,000, allocated by the Department of Transport, could be spent.
Cllr Xena Dion, cabinet portfolio holder for transportation, said: “We had nearly 150 responses from local people during the previous engagement exercise and have developed a series of improvements designed to address the issues raised, including reducing congestion, improving air quality and helping make public spaces more attractive.
“Many of the improvements will be carried out on Poole Road but some work will also take place on St Aldhelm’s Road, Lindsay Road and Bourne Valley Road,” she said.
Council staff will be at St Aldhelm’s Church, St Aldhelm’s Road on Wednesday, September 25 from 2pm to 8pm to answer any questions, listen to residents views and offer help with completing feedback forms.
People can also complete an online feedback form about the proposals at boroughofpoole.com/threetowns travel which is available until Friday, October 4.
“We would urge everyone to carefully consider the proposals and complete a feedback form to ensure their views count,” said Cllr Dion.
Once the final schemes have been approved, work could start during 2014. Funding has been allocated by the council from the £12.1million Three Towns Travel project which covers the conurbation.
