Countdown is on for Dorset Hall of Fame awards
THE countdown is on to the Dorset Hall of Fame awards – and there is still time for you to share the experience with the winners.
Five unsung heroes from Dorset will be named at the ceremony next month.
The finalists will be revealed at the second annual awards ceremony, organised by Heart 102.3 and backed by the Daily Echo and Teachers Building Society, at the Pavilion Ballroom in Bournemouth on Thursday, October 10.
This year’s finalists were chosen by judges Michaela Cotty from Heart FM and Daily Echo editor Toby Granville, plus Jo Legg and Anne Maton from Teacher's Building Society.
The judges sifted through more than 120 nominations, during a rigorous selection process.
Heart 102.3 programme controller Simon Monk said: “We are looking forward to another night to remember as we induct more of those who help to make Dorset such a caring and fantastic community into our Hall of Fame.”
The event celebrates those who work in the community for the benefit of others, often with little recognition, whether they are charity workers, teachers or business people.
Among the people honoured for their inspirational work last year were: mental health worker Emer Kelly from Kings Park Hospital in Bournemouth; Poole dance teacher Nikila Newman; charity worker Dame Kitty from Bournemouth; Sunseeker founder Robert Braithwaite CBE; and Monkey World founder Jim Cronin, whose posthumous award was accepted by his wife Dr Alison Cronin.
