Man left with 'serious injuries' after alleged assault at house in Charminster
A MAN was airlifted to hospital with ‘serious injuries’ following an alleged assault in Bournemouth on Saturday.
Dorset Police and paramedics were called to Luckham Road, off Charminster Road, at around 6.15pm.
Neighbours told the Daily Echo they heard shouts of ‘Stop it, stop it’ coming from the property before emergency services arrived. The injured man received on-the-spot treatment before being transferred to the air ambulance, which landed at nearby Bournemouth Sports and Social Club, Broadway Lane.
Police said they would not yet be releasing any more information about the injured man nor his condition.
They only confirmed he had been taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries.
However, the house remained sealed off by Dorset Police yesterday while officers guarded the building.
One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: “I wouldn’t say this area is exactly trouble-free. I tend to keep to myself to be honest. I didn’t see anything. I don’t even know who lives there.”
A Bournemouth Electric Sports and Social Club spokesman confirmed: “The air ambulance landed here and the person in question was taken on to the helicopter from an ambulance.
“They couldn’t land at Luckham Road so the police arrived here and asked our permission to allow the air ambulance to land.”
Officers later arrested a local man in relation to the incident.
A police spokesman said: “A male with serious injuries was located and taken by medical staff to Southampton Hospital.”
Bournemouth CID is asking anyone who can help to call the non-emergency number 101, quoting message number 409/07.
Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
