A SEX beast who raped a woman he had offered to drive home has been jailed for six years.

Portuguese Jorge Rosario, 47, attacked the 26-year-old in the Charminster area of Bournemouth in the early hours of Sunday January 27 this year.

Bournemouth Crown Court heard that Rosario was driving in the area in a red Nissan Micra when he spotted the young woman, stopped and offered her a lift home.

It was then he raped the terrified woman and subjected her to a further sexual assault.

Following the incident police appealed for witnesses to come forward who may have seen Rosario’s Red Micra in the Charminster area that day, including at Winton recreation ground in Fitzharris Avenue and behind the job centre on Costwold Road, Lansdowne.

Rosario, of no fixed abode, was arrested soon after the incident and on Friday (Aug 30) Judge Roger Johnson handed him a six year jail term for the rape. He was also sentenced to one year in prison for the sexual assault but was told this would run concurrently.

Speaking after the case, DC Ross Graham, of Bournemouth and Poole CID, said: “This brings closure for the victim and her family after what has been a traumatic incident.

“Jorge Rosario’s behaviour is entirely unacceptable and he must face the consequences of his actions behind bars.

“Although incidents of this nature are very rare, my advice to anyone concerned by this case is to take precautions when on a night out.

“Try to arrange a lift home if possible with someone you know or a registered taxi and stay in a group if you can.”
