Man's body to be formally identified
A MAN found dead in public toilets in West Cliff on Friday night is due to be formally identified this week.
The man’s body was discovered in the Bournemouth toilets at around 6pm on Friday.
A post mortem is due to take place on Wednesday, following a formal identification on Tuesday.
The man is not believed to be local.
The toilets were set to be closed to the public when the discovery was made.
The cause of death has not been revealed although police believe the man had pre-existing health problems.
A woman, believed to be the sister of the man found, posted on the Daily Echo’s website over the weekend.
Posting as Liza 111, she said: “To all those who have posted nice comments, thank you.
“To those who just presume, not every death is drug related. I’ve just been told my brother died there... and, yes, as a family we are devastated... so I hope it never happens to you.”
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
Chris Colledge, chairman of the West Cliff Green Residents’ Association and the area’s Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator, said on Friday that the community was “shocked and saddened” to hear of the death.
“We don’t know the circumstances of the death yet, and so it would be wrong to comment about any issues rela-ting to activity at the toilets, but it’s very sad news,” he said.
“The whole community, including residents and hoteliers, will be shocked.
“The prayers and thoughts of everyone living here will be with the families and friends of the person who has died.”
