A MAN was arrested in Bournemouth last night in connection with a murder investigation.

The 31-year-old man was arrested by officers from Dorset Police and Hampshire Police after a man was found dead in a Southampton alleyway in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police have today named the victim as Kevin Wyeth.

He suffered head, neck and facial injuries in the attack in Woolston.

The 31-year-old man arrested is currently helping the detectives with their enquiries into the murder.

He was arrested overnight in Poole Road, Bournemouth.

Tributes have today been paid to the 31-year-old found in the alley and bunches of flowers and an old Saints shirt have been left at the spot where Mr Wyeth, of Kingsclere Avenue, died.

Also still being held over the killing is a 25-year-old woman arrested yesterday.

Earlier today police removed the white tent that had been used to protect the scene as they looked for clues.

Police say a post mortem revealed that Mr Wyeth had suffered head, neck and face injuries.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics he was pronounced dead at the scene at about 2.15am.

The road in Woolston had been cordoned off as police forensics specialists investigate, while an appeal for information has been issued.

A tent was erected in the alleyway where the body was found, while sniffer dogs are helping pice officers searched for clues.

A telephone box was also examined as part of the investigation.

Detective Inspector Ellie Hurd, pictured below, who is leading the investigation, said: “This still remains an active investigation and we are attempting to piece together Kevin’s movements in the hours before his death."

Anyone with information should phone 101, quoting Operation Stem.
