TRIBUTES have been paid to a Thomas Hardye School pupil who has tragically died.
Promising sportsman Kieron Clewett is believed to have died at his home in Dorchester yesterday.
Fellow students have been paying tribute to the popular teenager and dozens gathered at Maumbury Rings last night to release lanterns in his memory.
They have also left tributes for the youngster, who had just completed Year 12 at Thomas Hardye School, at the popular meeting spot for youngsters in the county town.
Kieron was a member of Dorchester & District Amateur Boxing Club and won numerous awards in the ring.
Coach of the Dorchester & District ABC member Ben Geyser paid an emotional tribute to Kieron saying he was 'a marvellous boxer'.
Kieron first joined his club aged just 13 and earned the nickname Kieron 'King' Clewett for his fearless display of boxing.
He said: “He was such a good boxer - real A grade material.
“Not only that but he was a nice guy as well as a marvellous boxer.
“I honestly couldn't wish for a nicer boy to train.”
Ben added that Kieron had a few months off from training but phoned two weeks ago to ask if he could return to training.
Ben's wife Penny, who also runs the club, said Kieron was adored by people and loved by the younger children because Kieron would take the time to train them.
“He was unbeaten for a long time and was on his way to being an elite boxer and that was a real achievement.
“He was an extraordinary boxer and an even nicer boy - it's just such a shame.”
