12:46pm Thursday 15th August 2013 in News
A TRUCK driver arrested following a fatal collision on a Hampshire motorway has been released on bail.
The 50-year-old, from Southampton, was arrested yesterday after the death of a motorcyclist on the M27 westbound.
The motorcyclist, who was in his 40s and from the Havant area, died after he was struck by the waste truck near junction five at about 6.50am.
An off-duty paramedic and a nurse rushed to his aid following the collision, but despite their best efforts he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are continuing their investigation into the incident, which led to thousands of motorists becoming caught up in one of the worst traffic delays on the county's roads this year.
The westbound carriageway was closed until about 2.15pm as officers conducted their investigation at the scene.
Anyone with information is asked to call Hampshire Constabulary's Road Death Investigation Team at Eastleigh on 101.
