A family has captured what they believe to be a ghost on camera during a visit to one of Dorset's most notorious paranormal hotspots.

Known for its ruined Norman Church, Neolithic rings and pagan relics, Knowlton Church on the outskirts of Wimborne is regarded as one of the most haunted places in Dorset.

Corfe Mullen resident Stacey May caught what she describes as a “cloaked figure with a blue sheen” on film during a late night visit on Saturday July 27.

She said: “We didn't see anything when we were there, or sense any chills or cold presence. It was only when we got back and looked at all our footage that we spotted it.

“In the video you can clearly see some blue light and a figure which drifts across the screen getting bigger and bigger.”

Not seeing anything on the video? watch the centre of the screen from about 12 seconds in, you'll see a "blue figure" move to the right-hand side

“For me this is 100 per cent proof that something paranormal exists out there.”

Stacey visited the ruined church at around 10.00pm with her fiancé John Dennis, his 13-year-old daughter Amber and her friend Beth Davies.

They have put up the video and screen shot on Facebook and received an overwhelming response.

Stacey said: “The video has not been edited in any way, just trimmed either side to shorten the video to when you can actually see the figure.

“Some people have said it looks like a cloaked figure holding a baby, other people say it's a ghost with its head tilted.

“This has absolutely terrified me because we only went there for a laugh and to do something a bit different.”

A ghost hunt event has been organised for Friday August 9 at Knowlton Church because of the interest generated by this footage.
