FIREFIGHTERS are tackling a blaze this afternoon at a Bournemouth beauty spot.
A barbecue was thrown over the side of the cliff near Durley Gardens on the West Cliff.
A crew from Redhill, covering for crews at Westbourne, was sent to the scene.
They are using a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze, which is now under control.
A spokesperson for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was in "difficult terrain".
She urged people to dispose of their barbecues correctly and safely.
No-one was injured in the incident.
Chris Colledge, chairman of West Cliff Green Residents Association said he could see a lot of smoke going up.
"This is one issue that has been going on for a while", he added.
He said as a residents group, they have been calling for a ban on barbecues in that area but police and Bournemouth Council say they have not got the resources to stop such action.
