JUSTIN Rose will start the final day of the US Open this evening just two shots off the lead.
The former Robert May’s School pupil is bidding to become the first Englishman to win the tournament since Tony Jacklin in 1970, and the first to claim any major since Nick Faldo in 1996.
It could have been an even better situation for Rose, who dropped shots at each of his final two holes on Saturday to slip back to one-over-par at Merion.
Phil Mickelson holds the lead and, at one-under and is the only player below par on the brutal Philadelphia course.
