THE Brown and Forrest Smokery in the village was on the itinerary for a group of food, drink and travel writers from across the UK and Belgium.
Somerset County Council led a tour for writers to some of the area’s best hotels, finest local food producers and quaintest village pubs.
The three-day tour was the first part of Fish & Chips – a campaign devoted to promoting Somerset as a county with a rich and diverse food and drink sector and as a premier tourist destination.
The tour gave the writers the chance to sample some of the traditional produce Somerset is famous for such as Cider Brandy, distilled at Burrow Hill Cider Company, and unearth some of Somerset’s hidden gems like smoked eel at Brown and Forrest smokery at Hambridge.
