OXFORD RL assistant coach Martin Roden urged his players to be more disciplined after their 23-22 home victory over Hemel Stags.
The dramatic win inflicted a first defeat of the Kingstone Press Championship One season on Hemel and kept Oxford in third place.
Player-coach Roden said: “It was another close encounter, but we have to learn to be more disciplined.
“However, the boys dug deep to grind out the win.
“Full credit to Hemel Stags, who probably deserved to share the points.
“But we will take the win and it sets us up nicely for North Wales next week.”
Meanwhile, Oxford full back Jonny Leather plus centres Sean Morris and Danny Halliwell made the Premier Sports Championship One team of the week after their displays against Hemel.
Morris is now up to second in the Championship One player of the year standings.
