A BOURNEMOUTH care home brought residents from the local community together for an old-fashioned tea party.

Staff and residents at Queensmount Nursing and Residential Home, on Queens Park West Drive, invited older people who live nearby to join them for the event, which included tea, cake and Pearly Kings and Queens.

The Communi-tea party, held on April 30, was held as part of a nationwide campaign to combat the problems of loneliness and isolation amongst older people who live by themselves.

Manager Elizabeth Shack-lady said: “Everyone knows there’s nothing better than a friendly cuppa to bring people together and encourage a chin wag, and our residents and community are no exception.

“So, we wanted as many people as possible to come along, have a good time, and make some new friends.”
